How Charlie is making a difference
As a Prep classroom teacher, I absolutely loved sharing Cheeky Charlie Learns His Lesson by Liz Oxenbury with my 5 and 6-year-old students. The story is captivating, filled with humour and valuable lessons that resonate with young children. Watching my students engage with the characters was a joy, as they connected to Charlie’s mischievous yet lovable personality.
In 2023, we were incredibly fortunate to host a special visit at Middle Park Primary School, where Stephanie and the real-life Cheeky Charlie made an appearance. This experience was truly magical for the children, as they were not only read to by Stepahie, but they also got to meet the character they had grown to adore. The excitement in the room was palpable, and it made the story come alive in a whole new way.
The illustrations in the book are simply stunning. The vibrant colours and expressive character designs draw the children in, sparking their imaginations and helping them visualise the story. Each page is a visual treat, and the artwork plays a significant role in bringing the narrative to life, making it even more relatable and enjoyable for young readers.
